Monday, Feb 21 - Friday, Feb 25 (Wilcox, AZ and surrounding area):
We moved to a Good Sam Park in Wilcox, AZ.
Tuesday, Joe did email, Sue went to a beauty shop, and we went to the Rex Allen Museum.  Wednesday, the morning low was 27.  We drove to the old Ft Bouie ruins, saw the site of the Bascom massacre, went to the Chiricahua National Monument and drove to the top of Massai Point at 6870 feet.  There were still some patches of snow on the peak.  The National Monument has many strange and beautiful rock formations.  Thursday, we went to Cochise's Stronghold, a large blind canyon (one way in and one way out) with big trees and lots of shade.  They had a Forest Service campground in there and we might try to stay there, if we get back this way, again.  Friday, we stayed in camp, read and relaxed.
Saturday, Feb 26 - Thursday, March 2 (Ft Bliss, El Paso, TX, Guadelupe NP, Old Ft Davis):
Ft Bliss has one of the nicest military campgrounds.  We stayed 2 nights, visited the PX and Commissary, took advantage of the book exchange in the rec room, read and relaxed.
Monday, we went east to Guadelupe National Park to see the sights, there.  The ranger came by to say we could expect 50-60 MPH winds most of the night.  He instructed us to park headed into the expected wind and sais we should be OK.  We got through the night OK.  Tuesday, we visited the old Butterfield Stage station, the old Frijoles Ranch House and Mansanita Springs.  Wednesday, we watched a herd of 12-14 elk in the valley below our camp, then moved south to the old Ft Davis area.  Thursday, we enjoyed the old fort and the rich history of the place and drove up the mountain for a 2 hour tour of the McDonald Observatory, home of the 3rd largest telescope in the world.
Friday, Mar 3 (Big Bend National Park, TX):
We are in a very pretty campground, here in
Big Bend National Park, with big cottonwood trees, called Rio Grande Village and the park gets it's name from this Big Bend in the Rio Grande separating Texas from Mexico and there is a lot of history here..  A group of Javelina  came through the campground.  They look like wild pigs but are related to porcupines.  We visited some hot springs and learned that a man from Mississippi named, J.O. Langford, once owned all the land around here.  We also visited the Mexican town of Boquillas.
