On the Road in 2000

Saturday, March 4 - Sunday, March 5 (Big Bend National Park):
      Saturday, we walked into an area where water pours down over a rocks and a large trough had been carved out over many years and we visited 2 old farmsteads. The Rio Grande has very little water, here, and a local lady said it all gets pumped out for irrigation. Sunday, we did a couple of self guided driving tours and went up to the fossil site.
Monday, March 6 - Wednesday, March 8 (Laughlin AFB, Del Rio/Brooks AFB, San Antonio):
      We drove to Del Rio, TX and spent the night at Laughlin AFB campground. Tuesday we went on to San Antonio and the Brooks AFB FAMCAMP and called our old military friends from Naples, Italy (1964), Jim and Trudy Ratliff. On Wednesday, they picked us up for breakfast and we went to their house that night for steak and a visit.
Thursday, March 9 - Saturday, March 18 (To Houston, Florence, MS and home):
       We went to Houston and spent Thursday and Friday with Bruce and Judy. Saturday night we were in Hammond, LA. We ate at Catfish Charlie's and bought a flat of strawberries. We spent Sunday to Friday in Florence, MS with Nita, Bob, Nathan and Jenna Best. Saturday, March 18, we were back home.
Sunday, March 19 - Sunday, July 9 (Off the Road - at home):
       During this period of time, we were home doing what most people do at home. We ate at the Casino a few times, went to doctors, etc. Joe did help Harry build a carport on the back of their house with the help of Myron Gilmore. Sue started having problems with a cramping muscle in her right shoulder. She went to a neurologist who set her up for a series of deep massage treatments at the Jackson Hand Clinic and we went there 3 days each week. She tried water aerobics at the pool at St. Dominics Hospital for a few weeks. Everything helped, but not enough, so we decided to go to Thermopolis, WY for a month, so she could get in the hot springs. That was the excuse for our next trip. Harry and Donna Caldwell decided they would make the trip with us, so on Monday, July 10, we were back "On the Road".
