Sunday, Oct 1 - Thursday, Oct 5 - Ft McCoy, Wisconsin:
We headed east into Wisconsin and drove the Great River Road along the Mississippi River and saw lots of locks, dams and
Tugs pushing barges.  The river is quite small here compared to back home in Mississippi.  We stopped at a very nice military campground at Ft. McCoy in Wisconsin.  It is a nice shaded area and Smokey really liked it.  We stayed through Thursday.  Joe went to the office to do email, we traded books at their book exchange, shopped at the PX and Commissary.  Joe lost a lens out of his glasses and we went into Tomah, WI to get them fixed.  Sue did laundry, Joe did email and we restocked on food at the Commissary.
Friday, Oct 6 - Friday, Oct 13 - Lake McBride, COE CG, Iowa:

We left Ft. McCoy and drove south, then west into Iowa.  We stopped at Lake McBride Corps of Eng. CG between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City and stayed for a week.  We mostly stayed in camp, talked to folks at home on the cell phone and watched football on TV over the weekend.  The temps were in the 20s a couple of nights and we had to run the gas heat to keep the pipes from freezing.  We went to Iowa City on Tuesday for Sue to get a haircut.  On Wednesday, we went into Cedar Rapids and bought gas for 1.369 which is the cheapest we'e seen for awhile.  The weather had warmed up so we built a campfire and sat outside that night.  The campground filled up on Friday, because this is the last weekend before it closes for the winter.
Saturday, Oct 14 - Tuesday, Oct 17 - Pershing State Park - Chillocothe, MO:
We left Saturday AM, drove through some real pretty country with nice fall colors, and camped at Pershing State Park near Chillicothe, MO.  On Sunday, we met Bob and Paula Anchutz at the Country Kitchen in Chillicothe and then went to their house for a visit.  Paula is Sue's friend from high school days.  We saw 3 deer in a field across from their home and a herd of about a dozen a short distance away as we returned to camp.  Monday, we went back to Bob and Paula's and they took us for a drive to see some things in the area and visit some of their children and grandchildren.  The next day, Tuesday, we went to a covered bridge and walked the board walk in the park (2 mi).  We had a campfire that night.
