On the Road in 2000

Wednesday, Oct 18 - Sunday, Oct 22 - Visiting Rolands at FT. Leavenworth, KS:
We left Pershing State Park and went to Weston Bend State Park, across the Missouri River from FT. Leavenworth, KS, where we'll stay until Sunday and visit Danny, Paula. Lauren and Sarah Roland, again. We came by here early in the trip with the Caldwells. On the way we had a blowout on the right front tire of the M/H but there was no problem controlling it. Joe called Good Sam and they sent someone to change it. We followed him to his shop, nearby, and bought a used tire to go on the spare. Thursday, Joe went to the base to get prescriptions filled and pick up mail. That night Danny, Paula and the girls came over bringing steaks. We cooked them on the grill and all sat outside at the picnic table to eat. Friday, we went to the PX and to Danny and Paula's for supper. We enjoyed visiting with them and Lauren and Sarah. Saturday, they all came to our camp, went to the pumpkin patch then came back to eat with us and visit for a couple of hours. Sunday, Sue was a bit sick with sore throat, etc. and stayed in. Joe went to the base to visit with the Rolands, do email and get some things at the commissary.
Monday Oct 23 - Wednesday, Nov 1 - Arkansas, Warfield Point Park, Florence, MS:
We spent the night at a Corps of Engineers campground near Mountain Home, Arkansas. Tuesday, we got to Greenville, MS to Warfield Point Park. Wednesday, Sue was coughing a lot and spent most of the day in bed. We did walk up to the observation tower and watched some barges going up and down the Mississippi River. Thursday, we got to Florence, MS to visit Nita, Bob, Nathan and Jenna Best. Nita has a squirrel she raised on a bottle that is now almost grown. He has the run of the house and, on Friday, Sue and I both got bit by him and were bleeding. Saturday, we watched Jenna play soccer, Nita took Sue for a ride around their place and, that night, Joe showed videos of our trip. Sunday and Monday we just enjoyed visiting. Tuesday, Oct 31, was Halloween and Sue and Nita went with Jenna's 1st grade class on a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch and that night the kids went to a friends house to go trick or treating. Wednesday, we said our goodbyes and went home.
