Fri-Mon Jan 19/22, Joe & Nancy Sue Reeves "On the Road" : Friday, we waked up to bright sunshine, blue skies and temp in the low 20s. We left Ft. Stockton at 9AM and started seeing snow on the sides of the interstate. A hundred miles down the road there was about 3 inches, then it decreased to none before we reached El Paso. The temp was up to 50 this afternoon. When we parked at Fort Bliss, the folks next door came over. It was Charlie and Betty Sandridge, from Alabama. We met them last year at Ft. Huachuca, then a month later, here at Ft. Bliss, which we thought was quite a coincidence. But, to end up next to them again this year? That IS a coincidence. Joe went to the Army hospital and had a boil lanced on his back. We visited with Charlie and Betty in their new 5th wheel trailer tonight, as they are leaving tomorrow. Saturday, we watched the inaugaration on TV, went out for groceries, and kicked back for the weekend. The temp was 18 Saturday morning, but is up to 62 at 2:30 PM. Sunday, we stayed inside and read, as it was too chilly to sit out. Monday, Joe went back to the Army hospital and got his back re-bandaged. He'll have to go back again on Thursday. Tues/Wed, Jan 23/24, Albuquerque for the "Stars on Ice" show: We left Tuesday morning for Albuquerque and 50 miles north ran into snow, big fluffy flakes, really coming down, and in places saw 3-4 inches on the ground. We got there with plenty of time, found the colliseum and checked into a motel. We got the tickets, then had to wait 30 minutes in the cold for the doors to open. The show was great and we both enjoyed it. We saw Scott Hamilton, Christi Yamaguchi, Jenni Mena and Todd Sands, Steven Cousins, Curt Browning, Yuka Sato, and others you'd know if you watch skating on TV. They are even greater "live" than on TV and put on quite a show. Scott Hamilton is on his last tour with "Stars on Ice" and is retiring. See Pictures. We got back to the motel at 11:30. We slept pretty well Wednesday morning and had breakfast of free donuts and coffee offered by the motel. The first thing we saw, when we looked out, was that 2 windows had been knocked out of a red jeep parked outside our window. Fortunately, they didn't bother our old Honda, on the other side of the building. At least in military RV parks we are safe from the riff-raff. Most of the snow had melted, we were back by 1:30, and glad to see our motorhome. It surely beats a motel. Thurs, Jan 25, back at Ft. Bliss: Joe returned to the Doctor, got his back re-bandaged and was released. We'll did laundry, sent e-mail, dumped tanks, hooked up the car and are ready to roll tomorrow morning.
