Fri, Jan 26 - Joe & Nancy Sue Reeves "On the Road" :
We left Ft. Bliss at 8:30 AM.  We decided to take NM Hwy 9, rather than follow I-10.  The roads were pretty good, it was a closer than by the interstate, but probably took a little longer.   We did see some new country across the southern edge of
New Mexico, and came through Douglas and Bisbee, AZ.  We want to drive back to see these historic old towns before we leave the area.
Sat-Mon, Jan 27-29:
Well, maybe we jumped from the ice box into the freezer!  When we waked up
Saturday morning a strong wind was blowing and it was snowing, sideways.  Later the wind died and we watched huge, fluffy, white flakes coming down.  It continued all day but the temp stayed in the mid 30s so not much stayed on the ground.  Sunday, It got cold enough in the night for the snow to stick and we had a couple of inches on the ground this AM.  It kept snowing, off and on all day, but the sun came out some between snow showers this PM, and it all melted.  A lot of people left this AM and we moved into a better spot, with more space and some Locust trees out front.  A lot of birds hang out in the trees, so Smokey the cat likes this spot better, too, but it's still too cold for her to stay out very long.  There was still some snow falling at dark.  Joe got the satellite dish up, during a break in the snow, so we could watch the Superbowl.  Monday morning it was 33 but partly cloudy and the sun was out.  No Snow!  The forecast from Tuscon said we're in a warming trend and should hit 70 in a few days.  Hope so!!  We didn't have colder than 40s here last year.  We went to the main camp- ground to do laundry and send e-mail, and went by the PX and commissary.  Itís too cold to sit out.
Tue, Jan 30:
We went to town for buffet breakfast, to Wal-mart and got the Honda serviced at Jiffy Lube.  We picked up tickets for the Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering, this weekend.  It is pretty and sunny, today, but with a cold wind blowing.  We were back by 2.   Our neighbors next door came over and sat out with us until 4, when we all got cold and went inside.  It should warm up some this week.
Wed, Jan 31:
The last day of January and still cold.  High today was 48 with a brisk wind blowing.
Blue skies and sunny, but still too cold to sit outside.  Sue walked 2 miles this AM and Joe walked up to the Sportsman Center to check on mail.  It didn't arrive yet, but should be here tomorrow.  We went to the commissary and picked up a few groceries.
