On the Road e-mail #6a (March 18-23) Alamogordo, NM

Sun, Mar 18 - Tue, Mar 20 - Joe & Nancy Sue Reeves "On the Road":

Sunday, Joe went to McDonald's, on the base, and got us a Big Breakfast Deluxe and we sat out all day and read as we tried to recover from our mountain climbing expedition at Rockhound SP.  Monday, we went to the library, sent and checked e-mail and checked out the book exchange, the PX and Commissary and the Super Wal-Mart in Alomogordo about 7 miles away.  Tuesday, Sue got a library card and checked out the Lance Armstrong book and Dr. Nielsen's Ice Bound.  Since we'll be here for a month, we can read some real library books.  Joe found the Delorme Topo map of NM at the PX, which shows ALL the little forest and mountain roads, so we may do some exploring in the Honda before we leave here.  We got a bag of sunflower seed at Wal-Mart and made us a bird feeder.  There were several birds on hand this AM sampling our sunflower seeds.  We did some minor maintenance jobs and Sue planned to wash but the water went off this AM and didn't come back on until after 3PM, then she found everyone else had the same idea and the laundry was full so the washing was put off until tomorrow.  The weather was nice and temp 75 so we sat outside and read, then grilled a steak and baked potatoes for supper.
Wed, Mar 21 - Fri, Mar 23:

Wednesday, we had several small birds at the feeder, and a couple of large doves.  Sue washed clothes and cooked some chicken in the slow cooker while Joe did some work on the M/H.  It was in the 90s but, with the low humidity and a nice breeze, it was a pleasant day.  After 3 we sat outside and read until dark, then came in and watched TV.  Thursday was warm and sunny and we did nothing except sit outside all day, read and watch the birds at the feeder.  There were about a dozen finches, and 6 white wing doves which are bigger than the mourning doves at home and have louder, deeper voices.  Their cooing in the evening sounds almost like owls.  About 6PM the UPS truck came by with our last 2 weeks of mail from home, so Joe worked on bills and bank statement.  Friday, Joe finished entering bill payments into the computer, made phone calls about things in the mail, got the e-mail ready to send and went over to the library to send it.  We'll also stop by the PX and commissary, and the Post Office to see what our mailing address is here.  See Pictures.
