Sun-Thur, July 8-12, Joe & Nancy Sue Reeves "On the Road" (Anchorage, AK):
    Sunday
, it is drizzling rain, again!  Sue got up at 5AM, again, to watch tennis.  Live at Wimbleton at 2PM is 5AM here.  She went back to bed, slept until noon, then washed clothes most of the afternoon.  Joe was cleaning up around his recliner with the outside door open, when he heard something on the screen and looked up to see a squirrel climbing the screen door.  He threw out a handful of nuts and two squirrels had a fight over them right outside the door.  A couple of gray jays came down to share the nuts and both squirrels chased them.  Smokey is still having great fun watching and chasing them.  The guy across the road came by to say he went to the dumpster (about 50 yards away) and came face to face with a big lynx, so guess we'll have to be watchful when Smokey is out on her leash so she doesn't become lunch for a lot bigger cat.
Monday,
we went downtown to wash rugs, which we're not supposed to do at the campground, and to Fred Meyer and the commissary for groceries.  The weather was really nice and almost clear.  Smokey was out on her leash chasing squirrels.  She came to the door and meowed, and had slipped her collar.  When Joe went to get it he found she had chased a squirrel up a tree, gone over a limb and the collar was hanging a foot off the ground.  It was lucky she didn't hang herself.  We'll watch her closer.
Tuesday,
it was cloudy and drizzly again today.  Joe called the daughter of a friend in Wasilla, and we'll try to visit there on Thursday before we head south.
Wednesday,
2 day air has become 3 day air again. The mail didn't come so Joe paid for another night. We'll leave on Friday AM.  A Spruce Grouse hen came through our campsite with her brood of half grown chicks and Joe got a couple of pictures of them. The host came by and said there was a Lynx under a M/H farther down when he passed. A little later we saw the Lynx in the woods across the road, but he stayed in the thick undergrowth so we couldn't get a picture.
Thursday,
UPS got here about 10AM with our mail. We had lunch and left about 12:30 to go visit Bob and Ann Lynn's daughter Roberta Niver, and two of her boys, in Wasilla. The oldest boy and his dad are fishing off the Aleutians. They have a commercial fishing business and the Red Salmon are running.  They have a beautiful house on a lake here. We plan to move south tomorrow so may be offline for a week or so.
