Sun-Wed, July 22-25, Joe & Nancy Sue Reeves "On the Road" (Seward, AK):

Sunday, it was still drizzling this morning, but we went to Exit Glacier, anyway. It stopped raining when we got there so we didn't get too wet.  We stopped at a viewpoint about 5 miles away and made a picture.  The parking lot is a half mile from the glacier.  Joe was able to ride his cart about 3/4 of the way, while Sue walked, then he walked the rest of the way to within 100 yards of the glacier.  Sue crossed the stream off the melting glacier by stepping on some rocks and was able to get closer.  It has receded 200-300 feet since we saw it in 1995.  See Exit Glacier photos.  We stopped at Burger King for lunch, then went through Seward and about 3 more miles to the end of a gravel road.  We saw a nice waterfall on the drive and a Sea Otter swimming on his back in the bay.  We went back to the campground, broke camp, hooked up the car and drove 130 miles back to Anchorage, where we are staying in Black Spruce campground at Ft.Richardson again.
      Monday,
Joe started working on the water pump and Bill Dent from across the road came over and helped him get it out.  It turned out to be just a loose wire so they got it fixed and back in.  Joe offered to make the Dents (Bill and Gloria) calling cards on the computer for his help on the water pump.  He took the camera over, made their picture in front of their motor home, and put it in the computer, then went to the library, to check e-mail, PX and commissary.  On the way to the PX and commissary he saw a big old moose eating grass on the side of the road and stopped to make her picture.
Tuesday, Joe made 4 designs for cards for the Dents and took them over for them to see. He liked one design and she liked another so Joe printed them some of each.  They came out looking pretty sharp.  Smokey is having fun chasing the squirrels in this park, again.  See "Smokey and the squirrel".
Wednesday, we went downtown to Wal-Mart for Sue to get pictures developed, pick up some odds and ends and get a prescription filled.  We stopped by the public library for Joe to send e-mail, but they did not provide that service, so he did it at Mail Boxes, etc. We came back by the PX to pick up Ulu knives for a friend back home.
