On the Road #15 April 27-29, 2002, Clovis, NM

Saturday, April 27 (Clovis, NM):

We left Albuquerque today and drove about 220 miles to the horse farm of Jim & Darlene Curry.  He was in the Air Force with Harry back in the 50s.  He parked us both behind his house and hooked us up to electricity.  We went downtown with them to CiCi's Pizza buffet, then went back to their house.

Sunday, April 28 (Clovis, NM):

We slept late this morning, then went over and sat with the Currys on their patio.  The temp got up to 80+ but, with the low humidity and a nice breeze, it was very nice.  We had a sandwich for lunch, then Jim grilled steaks and Darlene fixed baked beans, baked potatoes and salad for dinner.  We got the full exposure to New Mexico western hospitality.  They had a new computer and Joe helped them figure out how to use it.  They were very friendly folks and we really enjoyed our visit.  See pictures.

Monday, April 29 (Haskell, TX, City Park):

We said "Goodbye" to the Currys this AM and drove about 260 miles to Haskell, TX.  We are in the city park here, which has full hookups and is FREE the first night and $9 for each additional night.  We'll just be here one night.  We needed cat food and a few groceries, so we unhitched the car and Joe & Harry drove down to the IGA store.  They brought back fried chicken, mashed potatoes and salad from IGA and milk shakes and blizzards from Dairy Queen so we had a good supper without having to fix it.
