On the Road #16 April 30-May 3, 2002, going home
Tuesday, April 30 (Tyler SP, Tyler, TX):
Today we traveled 320 miles to Tyler SP, Tyler, TX. Quite a change from when we were here 3 1/2 weeks ago. Then it was too chilly to sit out after dark. Now it's 92 at 4PM and we're inside with the A/C going. This is a nice park with water, elec., big trees, shade and pull through spots for $12, but it's too hot to sit outside this time of year. They had a lot of rain the last day or 2 the way we came and everything was pretty and green, but also HOT and HUMID. Guess it'll be the same back home.
Wednesday, May 1 (Florence, MS):
We drove a little over 300 miles today and arrived here at the home of Nita & Bob Best, Nathan and Jenna (Our daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren). We bid the Caldwells goodbye in Jackson on the CB radio and they went on home to Carthage, MS. It is HOT here, 95 at 4 PM, and the humidity is terrible. We heard last night, in Texas, a cold front was coming through to give some relief from the heat, but isn't due, here, until Friday. Jenna (8) adopted 8 orphaned baby ducks and they already consider her their mother.
Thursday, May 2 (Florence, MS):
We are still in Florence, just resting. Jenna
spends 3-4 hours a day in the water with her
baby ducks. Maybe she's turning into a duck.
Friday, May 3 (Florence, MS to home):
Joe went into the office with Bob and Nita
to do a little computer work. Then about noon,
we headed home. We'll be here a few weeks,
then may try to find a cool mountain top in
TN, NC or VA to spend the hot part of the
summer. We'll let you know when we're back
"On the Road".
Joe & Nancy Sue Reeves, Off the Road (temporarily), at home in Freeny, MS (near Carthage).
