On (off?) the Road # 6, August 2004, Still at home |
August 2004 - Still at home: We haven't been anywhere this month. Smokey, the cat, has been staying out a lot and using the cat door we installed for her. She made friends with a wild kitten and started bringing him in to eat. We named him "Little Bit". He has become tame enough to come in by us to go eat and sometimes sleeps on the couch, but we haven't been able to catch him to take him for shots and neutering. Smokey's Friend, Little Bit, sits on the couch. ---------------> (Story by Joe) Friday, the 27th, was my 70th birthday and our son, Bruce, came from Texas, with his friend Mario, for the occasion. We spent a quiet day on Friday, then Bruce said he was taking us to the casino for lunch on Saturday. When we arrived, there was Nita, our daughter, with son-in-law Bob and Nathan and Jenna, the grandkids, and our friends, the Lindsleys. Harry and Donna Caldwell were to come, but Donna had heart catheterization and they couldn't make it. (Her tests turned out OK.) The table was hanging with balloons, there was a cake and everybody yelled, "SURPRISE". I WAS!!!! We all had a good time and I learned they had been planning it for awhile and Sue was in on it. I was totally clueless and it was a total surprise to me. Balloons we brought home from the party---> |
Early September 2004 - Getting ready to take a trip: We plan to leave Thursday, the 9th, in the motorhome to spend the weekend in Florence, MS with the Best family and say goodbye to the kids and grandkids. We'll leave Monday, the 13th, headed East to Georgia, then north to Shenandoah NP in Virginia, by way of the Blue Ridge Parkway. From there we plan to return via Great Smokey Mountain NP and get home by the end of October. We'll keep you posted on our progress and will put pictures on the website. Joe and Nancy Sue, soon to be "On the Road, again" |
