On the Road # 13, Oct 14-18, 2004 Noccalula Falls, Gadsden, AL and Home |
Thursday-Monday, Oct 14-18 (Noccalula Falls, Gadsden, AL): On Thursday, I arrived at Noccalula Falls (City Park) Campground and set up camp. There is water, electricity and cable TV, so I hooked up, watched the news and a couple of shows. Friday, I rode the cripple cart down to Noccalula Falls, which has a legend attached to it. There is a statue of Noccalula and a plaque telling about the legend of Noccalula. Behind the falls, there is a cave big enough to set up housekeeping for a whole tribe. I read in a brochure they have a train, which runs down the canyon, a Farm Museum and a petting zoo, so I set off on my cripple cart to see them and discovered they are closed for renovation. A guy working on the railroad said they hope to be open again by Thanksgiving. There are lots of gray squirrels in the campground and I saw one black squirrel. Saturday, I stayed close to camp and set about to clean inside and straighten up the motorhome, getting ready to go home. Sunday, I relaxed and read a book, and Monday, I went home.
