Pigeon Forge Trip 2005

Thur-Fri, Dec 15-16, 2005 - Noccolula Falls Park, Gadsden, AL:
      We were on the road by 11 AM and arrived at Noccolula Falls about 3:30. We hooked up and kicked back. A group of 5 turkeys came by our campsite. They apparently live in the park. We got to bed early and waked up to the sound of squirrels playing on the roof of the M/H. Bob, Nita, Nathan and Jenna Best arrived about 2:30 on Friday. They checked into their cabin. It was a nice log house with 2 bedrooms, large living room, kitchen, fireplace, front porch and screened back porch, overlooking the river.   We went to see the falls and found the gate closed and the fence covered with Christmas lights. The maintenance man said the park would open at 6PM for a "Christmas on the River" light show. We were able to see the falls from the cliff on the campground side. The river was full and the falls were much larger than when we saw them during the summer. Bob took us out to dinner at Top of the River Seafood House, and we decided to pass on the light show.
Sat, Dec 17, 2005 - Pigeon Forge, TN:
      We got on the road by 10 AM following the Best fanily in their Excursion and arrived at Pigeon Forge about 2:30. We are at Creekside RV Park, which has wireless internet service.
Sun, Dec 18, 2005 - Pigeon Forge, TN (Dollywood):
      Bob, Nita and the Kids picked us up and took us to see their accomodations. It was a colonial style house and very interesting. Then we went with them to Dollywood. We drove our Honda so Joe would have his cripple cart and Nita rented one for Sue to ride around the park. The Christmas decorations were pretty and we stopped at one open air show. Sue particularly enjoyed the glass blowing shop and we both enjoyed looking at the eagles. Unfortunately, we did not dress warmly enough and when the sun started dropping, so did the temp. Nita had free tickets to a 7 PM show, which would have been inside, but Sue got cold and decided she would just take the Honda and return to the M/H. Joe went with her to load his cart and was going to take her rented cart. They wouldn't let us take the rented cart past the gate, the parking lot had filled up and we had trouble finding the car but finally did. Sue dropped Joe at the gate, where he found they had taken the key from the rental cart so he had to walk back to the rental place and get it. He made the mistake of telling Sue this on the cell phone and she told us later she had been to 3 different offices to tell them what she thought of it before she finally got on her way.
